VICKI GORDON

VICKI GORDON is one of the most highly respected music industry consultants and managers in Australia. She has dedicated her career to the development of Independent artists for local and International success. She left NZ at the age of 19, with her guitar and $300, to pursue a career in the Australian Music Industry; her achievements are more than impressive.

In 1991 Vicki received a Human Rights Commendation Award and a Women in the Arts Fellowship for her contribution to Industry. In 1996 she produced the first Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Indigenous Contemporary Women's Music Festival in Australia, the first Training program for Female DJ's and the very first Fanzine for young women entering the Australian Music Industry. With 14 years experience managing Independent record labels she has been integral to the success of Award winning and internationally acclaimed Australian artists such as Vanessa Amorosi & the Sick Puppies. She is renowned for her unique, direct approach to Marketing and Management and is highly sought after in this regard.

In 2002 Vicki was the first Woman, in 50 years, to be voted onto the board of ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association), in her own right, to represent the Independents. As an ARIA Board Director she initiated the NA2R (New Artist 2 Radio) competition to create more airplay for Australian Artists on Commercial Radio. Now in its 10th year NA2R is the longest running and most lucrative competition for Independent artists in Australia. Vick is an active speaker and presenter at Music Festivals across Australia, NZ and the Pacific where she is also actively involved in marketing workshops and mentoring emerging managers and artists.

She is the founding President for CICADA International Inc. (Contemporary Independent Creative Artist Development Agency), a not for profit established in 2009 to improve the profile of emerging Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Indigenous artists trying to break into the mainstream. She is also the Managing Director of VGM: Vicki Gordon Management, Media & Marketing, an Independent consultancy specializing in the development of Independent artists and an Independent Manager & Producer.
