CICADA International Inc.

CICADA International Inc. was established in July 2009. CICADA (Contemporary Independent Creative Artist Development Agency) is a not for profit association committed to providing a focused Marketing, Media, Management and Recording infrastructure for Australian Indigenous artists trying to break into the mainstream. In consultation with the ATSIA Board of the Australia Council; CICADA aims to address a major gap in the areas of marketing, management and production for emerging Indigenous artists.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES


To determine, and action, extensive marketing strategies with realistic budgets which support young Indigenous musicians to this end.

To produce/release high quality music recordings which meet the production value of successful mainstream music both locally and internationally.

To work closely with mainstream media networks and industry partners to improve support for Indigenous music within the mainstream.

To identify emerging Indigenous artists with mainstream potential.

EMMA DONOVAN

EMMA DONOVAN’s new single CHANGES won the Adult Contemporary genre in the 2009 New Artists 2 Radio competition www.na2r.com.au picking up a share in $150,000 worth of radio advertising across the major commercial networks down the East Coast.

CHANGES will be available digitally, at retail and supported nationally with commercial radio airplay commencing on February 1st 2010.

EMMA DONOVAN is the first Indigenous Artist in Australia to win in any category of NA2R.

URSULA YOVICH

Ursula Yovich has defied the odds to become one of Australia's most celebrated performers and, despite her immense theatre success, music is her first love.
She has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York . She was awarded the 2007 Helpmann Award (Australia’s equivalent to the Tony Awards) for best actress in Capricornia and nominated for the third time for a Helpmann award for her role in The Jerry Springer Opera. She has also played significant roles in the feature films Jindabyne and Baz Luhrmann's Australia. Her personal cabaret, Magpie Blues, premiered at the International Cabaret Festival in Adelaide scoring rave reviews at the Darwin Festival, the Dreaming Festival and the Brisbane Cabaret Festival. Magpie Blues opens in Sydney on May 21st.
Ursula is currently in development for her debut album.
